Music and the Deaf's 2016 Winter Recital was held on the 10th of December in the Yorkshire town of Halifax. Held in the beautiful Crossley Gallery, the evening featured performances by the FORTE Ensemble - an inspiring group of some of the UK’s finest deaf and hard of hearing musicians - and the young people of the Yorkshire Music Club - a music group specifically for children and young people with a hearing loss.
The recital featured solo performances by each of the FORTE Ensemble members, followed by the UK premier of Danny Lane's Amsden's Yorkshire Suite, which was commissioned by Ruth Montgomery on behalf of Audiovisability. Photographer Emma Amsden was a special guest, and she travelled to Halifax espcially to attend the event to watch how Danny had interpreted her photography into music. The performance was complete with descriptive subtitles and a BSL interpreter.
