I am delighted to announce that I will be starting a Level 6 course in British Sign Language, starting in January 2019. This has been made possible by an award of £1,500 from the Help Musicians UK Transmission Fund:
'The UK-wide Transmission Fund assists artists in building their career by providing grants of £500 - £1,500 to finance opportunities allowing them to focus on developing their artistic and professional development at a crucial point in their career.'
Achieving a Level 6 qualification has been one of my personal long-term goals since graduating from university. It is the highest level attainable in British Sign Language, meaning learners must demonstrate language skills equivalent to an undergraduate degree in Modern Languages.
I am excited to use this opportunity to strengthen my command of the language, ultimately enabling more effective communication in both my teaching and collaborative work with other Deaf creatives. This is an exciting new chapter of personal study and development, and I am incredibly grateful to Help Musicians UK for their support.
